Debutant Harshit Rana is having an unforgettable outing in Perth as he dismantled Travis Head's stumps on day one of the 1st Test match in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. Head was batting on 11 runs in 13 balls when Rana came in the 11th over and bowled a good length delivery. The ball angled in, and just when Head thought of defending the ball, he couldn't, and it went straight to the stumps.

The Indian team erupted in happiness as the dangerous Head went back to the dugout without causing any changes to the scoreboard. The batter started with two solid boundaries, giving a warning to the bowlers. Rana did really well in dismissing the batter, which was necessary for India.

In 21 overs, Australia scored 47 runs and lost six wickets. The bowling attack has been magnificent, not letting the batters to settle down. Now, Labuschagne and Alex Caret are batting on two and eight runs, respectively. Except for Head, none of the batters have gone past the 10-mark run, showing India's prolific bowling strength. Captain Jasprit Bumrah led from the front, taking three wickets. Mohammed Sirah and Rana claimed one wicket each.

India's terrible collapse in first innings against Australia

Indian batters didn't do justice to the opportunity they got by winning the toss in the first innings, as they could only manage to score just 150 runs. Starting from Yashasvi Jaiswal to Virat Kohli to Devdutt Padikkal, none of the batters could cross the double figures, ending with such a low score. KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Nitish Reddy played exceptionally well, contributing to the team's performance.

Rahul started off well and scored 26 runs when the third umpire's decision went against him. Meanwhile, Pant and Reddy held the game for some time, trying to get to a good total but failed to do so. The left-handed batter scored 37 runs in 77 balls, while the right-handed batter scored 41 runs in 59 balls, including six boundaries and one six.
