India have clinched a comfortable victory against England in the first ODI match in Nagpur. It was a splendid performance by vice-captain Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel, who led the team to their first win. With this victory, the hosts have taken a lead in the 3-match ODI series, 1-0. The next game is on February 9, in Cuttack, where England will try to avenge their loss.

However, it was Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja who scored the final few runs for the team after set batter Shubman Gill was dismissed for 87 runs off 96 balls. As Pandya was returning to the dressing room, he was spotted having a hilarious conversation with an injured Virat Kohli, laughing out loud as if there was no tomorrow. It was a heartwarming sight to see the Indian players enjoying their time together.

The reason behind their laughter remains unknown, but several viral reels on social media suggest that they were laughing because Pandya didn’t let Gill reach his century by hitting the final few runs when Gill was close to the milestone. However, these are just fan speculations.

Axar Patel batted brilliantly with Shubman Gill, scoring 52 runs off 47 balls, including six boundaries and one six. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer played a cracking innings as he hit 59 runs in 36 balls. He came in and started charging the bowlers. He hit nine boundaries and two sixes in his innings.

Harshit Rana pulled off a dream debut against England in 1st ODI

Young cricketer Harshit Rana has had a dreamy four months. From getting his Test cap to the T20I cap to the ODI cap, he has lived through his dreams. In the first ODI, Rana was the knight in shining armour for Team India. He claimed three crucial wickets, giving the much-needed start. In seven overs, he conceded 53 runs, which was a bit expensive.

However, he maintained his line and length by the end of the game and was successful. On the other hand, the other debutant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, scored just 15 runs and failed to impress. He did get a good start but failed to convert it. India are experimenting with the batting order and with the return of Virat Kohli back in the squad, it would be interesting to see who will be benched.
