The move paid rich dividends as Rana took just two balls to get into the groove. The seamer bowled a short ball outside off stump that Liam Livingstone tried to hit down to the third man region. The ball took the edge of the bat as it flew to Sanju Samson who completed an easy catch.

Gautam Gambhir could be seen roaring in delight as his former KKR ward made an instant impact. Indian players surrounded the young pacer who dismissed the dangerous Livingstone to earn the home team a key wicket. Livingstone had played a crucial innings in Rajkot to help his side score 171 and also win the game.

Memories of Canberra as Harshit Rana makes splendid impression as concussion sub

This isn’t the first time India has used a concussion sub in T20 cricket. The first instance was during the first T20I against Australia in Canberra. Yuzvendra Chahal had come out as the substitute and picked four wickets to win the game for India. Justin Langer who was Australia’s coach wasn’t happy with the move and complained to match referee David Boon.

Shivam Dube had earlier pulled India out of trouble with 53 from 34 balls with seven fours and two sixes. His 87-run stand with Hardik Pandya changed the course of the game after India were placed at 79/5 at one stage in the 12th over. The 31-year-old replaced Washington Sundar for the game after India had lost the last match.

Harshit Rana picked his second wicket of the game when his slower deceived to dismiss Jacob Bethell for six runs. The batter was beaten by a slower ball which was bowled at 120 KPH as skipper Suryakumar Yadav settled under the ball and took an easy catch.
