Sri Lanka got off to a great start yet again as they were asked to bat first after India won the toss in the second match of their T20I series. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera went after the Indian bowlers again as the pair added 54 runs for the second wicket in just 6 overs.

Axar Patel brought into the attack early, bowled a straighter delivery to Pathum Nissanka. The Sri Lankan batter went for a sweep shot and missed the line of the ball. The Indian team went up for a huge appeal as they deliberated and went up for the DRS.

Once the checks were done, the ball was seen to be missing the stumps. The third umpire asked the on-field umpire to stay with his original decision which was not out. Gautam Gambhir was spotted giving a stoic look as the Indian team wasted a key review.

Kusal Perera leads Sri Lanka’s charge

Arshdeep Singh got India the first wicket of the day when he dismissed Kusal Mendis for 10. The Sri Lankan opener played 11 balls and hit 2 fours before he was caught by Ravi Bishnoi.

Pathum Nissanka who had scored 79 in the first game was yet again playing a few delightful shots. The 54-run stand for the 2nd wicket was broken in the 10th over when Ravi Bishnoi had Nissanka out LBW for 32.

Kusal Perera who has earned a recall to the side played some blistering shots to register yet another half-century in dramatic style. The veteran batter went for a pull off his hips against Hardik Pandya.

Rinku Singh took the catch before slipping and dropping the ball over the ropes for a huge six. The men in blue haven’t had a great time on the field due to the slippery outfield. Kamindu Mendis became the third wicket of the day when he fell to Hardik Pandya caught by Rinku Singh for 26.

Earlier in the day India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Shubman Gill was rested for the game as he was replaced by Sanju Samson. The Indian vice-captain was rested because of a neck spam on Sunday morning. Spin bowler Ramesh Mendis made his way into the playing Xi for the home team in place of pacer Dilshan Madushanka.
