WATCH: Furious Shubman Gill argues with match officials after his controversial run-out

There was a massive controversy that took place in the Gujarat Titans (GT) versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) game in Ahmedabad. For the first time in the IPL 2025 season any player was seen venting out his anger to a match official in front of the fans across the world. GT skipper Shubman Gill who batting well on 76 was run out when he responded to a call for a quick single from Jos Buttler.

Harshal Patel picked up the ball and threw it towards the stumps. SRH wicketkeeper Heinrich Klaasen deflected the ball back onto the stumps. TV Umpire took a while to make the decision and checked each angle. Finally the decision went in favor of the bowling side as Gill had to make his way back to the dugout. 

The cameras then spotted Titans’ skipper make his way to the match officials and making his point furiously. Even some of the GT support staff members were seen expressing their displeasure about the dismissal. While the batter has the right to question a decision, Gill may have to face penalty of some sort for his outburst on the field. 

Sunrisers Hyderabad set 225-run target to keep IPL 2025 hopes alive

On the field, Gujarat Titans scored a massive 224 runs for the loss of six wickets from their 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill batted well to add 87 runs for he opening wicket in under seven overs. Zeeshan Ansari got the first wicket for SRH when he had Sudharsan caught by Klaasen for 48. 

The second wicket stand between Gill and Buttler then took GT to 149 runs. The pair added 62 runs for the second wicket in 37 balls. Buttler scored his second successive fifty before he was out for 64 off 37 balls with three boundaries and four sixes. Washington Sundar played a crucial cameo to score 16-ball 21 as SRH went past the 220-run mark. 

The best bowler for the visiting side was veteran seamer Jaydev Unadkat who picked three for 35 from four overs. Hyderabad have to win the game if they have to keep their playoffs hopes alive. All eyes will be on the pair of Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head as SRH come out to bat on what is a great surface in Ahmedabad.
