Former legendary RCB batter and the Caribbean great, Chris Gayle, has reached Ahmedabad ahead of the highly anticipated IPL 2025 between RCB and Punjab Kings. The tournament’s summit clash is scheduled to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, June 3.
Before landing in Ahmedabad, Gayle also shared his pictures when he was boarding his flight to India. After arriving at the Ahmedabad airport, he was received by the officials, and they escorted him further.
A video of Chris Gayle’s arrival at the Airport stadium was also shared by a fan on X (formerly Twitter), and it immediately went viral on social media.
Here’s the video:
Notably, Chris Gayle had been a part of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) squad for six years across seven editions. He was also a part of the RCB XIs, which played the IPL 2011 final and the IPL 2016 final. After his stint with RCB ended in 2017, he later joined the Punjab Kings for the next editions from 2018 to 2021.
So technically, the final of the IPL 2025 is going to be played between Chris Gayle’s two previous teams, which might end him in a conundrum about which team to support, as he played for both teams in his IPL career.
RCB or PBKS, IPL to get a new champion
Speaking of the RCB and PBKS, Rajat Patidar’s men defeated Punjab Kings by 8 wickets in the first qualifier to secure a direct spot in the tournament’s final. After RCB became the first team to enter the final, Punjab Kings faced the eliminator’s winner, Mumbai Indians, in the second qualifier.
Shreyas Iyer’s PBKS completely outplayed the five-time champions, chasing down a 200+ total to secure a spot in the final. Interestingly, this RCB vs PBKS final will also give a new champion to the Indian Premier League, as both teams are eyeing ending their 17-year-long drought across 18 seasons.
