Former Indian and Chennai Super Kings batter S Badrinath was trolled by Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans recently. The incident occurred in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League 2025 season. In a recent game, I spotted the former Indian batter giving commentary. Fans put up RCB jerseys and were heard chanting for the current IPL 2025 winners.
It is to be noted that RCB and CSK are heated rivals and in the 2025 season, Chennai were beaten by RCB twice. The win in Chennai was the first for RCB since the opening season in 2008. The second game that was played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium was won by the home team, which won the game by two runs in what was a controversial encounter.
Badrinath was part of CSK for six seasons and won the titles twice. In the 95 games he played for CSK, Badrinath scored 1441 runs with 11 fifties and had a career average of 30 and strike rate of 118. Badrinath in fact was also part of the RCB side but didn’t play any match before he called time on his career.
Will RCB face a ban from IPL 2026?
The tragic stampede in the victory parade after the IPL 2025 title win has raised more questions. According to various reports, BCCI could impose a one-year ban on RCB if they are found guilty of the tragic events that took place on 4th June. Investigations are currently ongoing, with a few KSCA members also stepping down.
Meanwhile, former owner Vijay Mallya’s son Siddharth has alleged that Instagram took down his video after he celebrated RCB’s win. Siddharth Mallya posted yet another video where he could be heard explaining his ordeal to fans. The 39-year-old began by saying, “I posted an emotional video the minute RCB won. Lots of you commented and reposted that video.”
Siddharth Mallya also said, "But for some reason, Instagram decided to take down the video and ban me from interacting on the platform for several days." After I got to the bottom of it, the video was taken down because the IPL said I had violated their copyright, which is absolutely nuts to me."
