Indian wicketkeeper and batter Rishabh Pant created history with the bat in the opening Test match against England. India’s Test vice-captain became the first ever Indian batter to score twin centuries in a Test in England. Pant also became the second wicketkeeper after Andy Flower to record two centuries in a single Test match. The 27-year-old has found new fans in England for his amazing batting in the opening Test.

Former English spinner Phil Tufnell was part of a show called Stick to Cricket recently. The show also featured former England captains Michael Vaughan and Alastair Cook along with former coach and commentator David Lloyd. During the course of the show, Tufnell hilariously recreated the falling scoop played by Pant in the first Test that left others in splits.

Tufnell said, “Must be premeditated. Then he sort of like gets himself, there again, short fella, little fella, gets himself across, gets his weight on that back leg and then collapses that back leg and then he's going down and then over there, like a frying pan, like tossing a pancake.”

AB De Villiers gives his take on Pant’s batting in Leeds Test

Former South African wicketkeeper and batter AB De Villiers has lauded Rishabh Pant for his amazing show with the bat in the opening Test. De Villiers during his live chat on YouTube also said that the Indian fans must be patient and trust the process since it was a long series.

De Villiers said, “He plays with extreme risk. It's sometimes going to frustrate the living daylights out of you. I can count 20 occasions where he could have gotten out for under 30 in both innings. But he didn't, and that's the most important thing. He is a player that takes it to the opposition, and 99 out of 100 times, those are your successful sports people.”

The former South African star went on to add, “I was on the couch, going, ‘Rishabh, what are you doing? It's not the time and place for this. But look at the results. That's all that matters. It is a huge shame they couldn't cross the line because he deserved to be the Man of the Match. Lots of questions all of a sudden. I know there are a lot of media people around, writing the big headlines, 'We need change.' I don't think it's time to panic yet. It is a five-Test match series."
