Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost their penultimate game of the IPL 2025 season to Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday night. The game was played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. A few cricket fans who were travelling in the Delhi metro broke into an impromptu chant for MS Dhoni and the video is going viral on social media. MS Dhoni scored 16 runs, which included a six, which was his 350th in the T20 format. With one game left to play, CSK has to win with a huge margin to end their season in the ninth spot. On Tuesday, Chennai were put into bat first and scored 187 runs on the board with Ayush Mhatre (43) and Dewald Brevis (42) top scoring for the five-time champions.

In reply, Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored 57 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 36 and Dhruv Jurel was not out on 31. Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson was happy with the way his bowlers performed and, while speaking at the end of the game, said, “We have a very young bowling lineup. We are missing Jofra and Sandeep. But the kind of temperament and planning shown by the young bowlers was heartening to see. They have a bright future.”

Former India coach urges MS Dhoni to take call on his future

Sanjay Bangar, the former Indian coach who has worked with MS Dhoni, has urged the CSK to take a call on his future. Bangar was quoted by ESPN Cricinfo as saying, “At 43, it's very tough to play in that competitive environment. Leave aside this competitive environment, but even if you go and play some local cricket, you will find how tough it is on the body. It all boils down to MS, but if I was MS, I would say it's enough.”

The former Indian coach also added, “I have played whatever I wanted to play; I have looked after the interest of the franchise as well – if that was the motivation – but you know, you move on. Allow it. By you being there, if you're thinking that the transition will happen fast, there is never an ideal time."

“So you might as well have peace with the fact that even if I leave now, the franchise will develop on its own. It may take a year longer, but I am not going to be there for the entire cycle. So that's how I would look at MS' position,” Sanjay Bangar further added about MS Dhoni’s future.
