The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) was yet another high-scoring encounter. It was LSG who won the game by four runs after scoring a massive 238 on the board. At one stage, KKR were very much in the chase as their score read 129 for two after ten overs.
Andre Russell came out to bat with KKR still needing over 50 runs to win the game with four overs left to play.

Shardul Thakur, who had been disappointing with the ball, got the key wicket of Russell in the first ball of the 17th over. Thakur bowled a low full toss that Russell tried to hit down the ground. The West Indian batter couldn’t get his timing right as David Miller dove in front to take the catch.

KKR were placed at 162 for two but lost five wickets for just 23 runs in 19 balls. Skipper Rahane was the top scorer with 61 runs that came off 35 balls. Rahane hit eight fours and two sixes while Venkatesh Iyer hit 45 off 29 balls with six fours and a six. Rinku Singh was not out with 38 off 15 balls but couldn’t take his team over the line.

Earlier in the day, LSG batted first and posted 238 runs on the board as Nicholas Pooran led the carnage with the bat. Pooran was not out on 87 runs from 36 balls while Mitchell Marsh hit 81 runs off 48 balls. This was the fourth fifty of the season for Marsh and it came in just five innings.

‘It was a tight game; we gave our' best'—Ajinkya Rahane after loss to LSG

KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane looked at the positive side after the loss to LSG at home on Tuesday. The 36-year-old said, “A really tight game. As I said at the toss, the wicket remained good throughout the 40 overs. We gave our best; it was a great game; in the end we were just 4 runs short. When you are chasing 230-plus, you will lose wickets in the chase. This was one of the best wickets to bat on.”

LSG opener Aiden Markram, speaking at the end of the game, said, “It was a good pitch. We've got some freaks in our team - Mitch and Nicky hit all parts; it's great to watch them do their thing and get some big runs on the board. It was a little bit slow to start off and then got better as the game went on. In the power , I was looking to take the game on; sometimes it works.”
