Desert Vipers have confirmed their place in the ILT20 2025 playoffs after a five-wicket win over Desert Vipers. England pacer Chris Jordan, who has finished his commitments in Big Bash League, took an amazing catch to dismiss Alex Hales. The athleticism shown by the veteran England star left even the commentators amazed.Β

The incident happened on the fourth ball of the second over, with Mark Adair bowling to Hales. The former England batter tried to loft the bowler over the mid-on region. Chris Jordan kept his eye on the ball and took a well-judged catch to send back Hales for nine runs.Β

Lockie Ferguson won the toss and put the Gulf Giants into bat, who ended up scoring 129/8 from their 20 overs. Tom Curran was the best batter for the Giants, with 64 not out from 34 balls with nine fours and one six. Sam Curran was the best bowler for the Vipers, with figures of 3/28 from four overs.Β

Max Holden’s 70 not out helps Desert Vipers secure playoff spot

Chasing 130 to win, the Vipers lost Fakhar Zaman for 14 just after losing the wicket of Alex Hales. Daniel Lawrence (7) and Sam Curran (16) lost their wickets against the run of play. Max Holden though kept his cool to score 70 not out from 54 balls with nine fours and a six to guide his team to win by five wickets.Β

Speaking at the end of the game, Vipers skipper Lockie Ferguson said, β€œBoys are very happy. The last game was a tough one for the lads, and the bowling was exceptional. Was a good wicket in the end; we have talked about bowling the hard length. Mo has been leading us from the top. Maxi has been unreal, he has been training so hard, he is the heartbeat of the team, nice to see him get some runs.”

Losing skipper James Vince said, β€œWasn't a great performance with the bat. 130 was always tough to defend. The first 10 overs of the batting innings put us on the back foot. We fought really well with the ball and took it as far as we could but a little short with the bat.”
