South Africa’s emerging side is currently touring Bangladesh for a short series. The second unofficial Test between the two sides in Mirpur witnessed ugly scenes on the ground. Bangladeshi batter Ripon Mondal and Proteas bowler Tshepo Ntuli got into a very bad fight during the game that nearly escalated into a fistfight. It required the umpires and players to step in before things got out of hand.

The incident in question happened after the batter hit Ntuli for a six. Following this, Ripon was seen chatting with the non-striker and the bowler was staring at Ripon angrily. Ntuli went towards the batter and there was an exchange of words between the two players before some pushing and shoving took place.

Just as the two players were seen pushing each other, Ntuli could be seen getting more agitated. The bowler also was seen pulling the grill of the batter’s helmet, which caused Ripon to remove his helmet. Even some of the other South African players joined the fray, directing their ire at the batter.

A few deliveries later, Ntuli flung the ball towards Ripon in anger as the batter was able to safely fend it away. As of this moment, no sanctions have been levied on the players. Earlier in the tour, as well as a few Bangladeshi and South African players, were involved in altercations during the ODI series, which the home team won with a 2-1 margin.

Bangladesh maintain firm control of the game

Batting first, Bangladesh posted a massive total of 371 on the board. Opener Iftakhar Hossain Ifti scored 109 off 291 balls with 14 hits to the fence. Moin Khan batted well to score 91 off just 159 balls with 15 boundaries in his knock. Ripon Mondal (43) and Mehedi Hasan (44*) added 67 runs for the ninth wicket.     Andile Mokgakane was the best bowler for the visiting side with figures of 4/42 from his 21.4 overs.

South Africa got off to a good start with Muhammad Manack scoring 54 off 95 balls. Ripon Mondal then took two wickets while Naseem Ahmed and Mehedi Hasan picked a wicket each, while Rakibul Hasan picked two wickets. At stumps the visitors were placed at 152 for the loss of six wickets.
