Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant has always been called an X-Factor in world cricket. The 27-year-old’s aggressive batting and approach to the game has been compared to legendary Australian star Adam Gilchrist. After retirement from the game, Gilchrist has become part of the commentary team and is currently giving his views on the current series.
Rishabh Pant during the Adelaide Test match was seen sharing a light moment with the former Aussie legend. Pant, in a playful manner, closed Gilchrist’s eyes with his hands before Gilchrist turned around and gave him a tight hug.

Ravi Shastri who was in the pre-game panel with Isa Guha, Brett Lee, and Adam Gilchrist asked “What was this chat? Am sure he must have asked you, can you show me some new shots to play, can I score at a quicker rate just like you? And bat for longer periods of time and get hundreds. Because he is that kind of player, he gets bored he wants something new all the time”
Sunil Gavaskar slams Rishabh Pant for batting in 2nd innings
Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar wasn’t pleased with Pant’s batting during the 2nd innings. At the end of the day on Saturday, the 75-year-old showed his displeasure with some of the shots played by Pant with India losing wickets at the other end.
During the end of the day analysis on Star Sports, Mr. Gavaskar was heard saying “Very entertaining, no question about it. But you mustn't forget, in the old days, there was no alternative to Test cricket; if you didn't play Test cricket, you went back to Ranji Trophy, you went back to club cricket, and that was it. When you have a cushion like the IPL, like the contract system, you can play this way. So what if you get dropped from the Indian team, you have the IPL,”
Rishabh Pant came out to bat with his overnight score of 28 and lasted just a few deliveries. Mitchell Starc dismissed Pant when he was caught in the slips by Steve Smith. With India travelling to Brisbane for the next match, fans will be eagerly waiting for Pant to get back to form.
