Team India's star batter Virat Kohli is in full practice mood as he continued to bat in the nets during the practice sessions ahead of the 1st Test match in Perth. The most-awaited Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 is just around the corner, and the players are gearing up for it. Amidst this, Kohli kept his enthusiasm alive during the practice sessions while everyone went inside because of rain interruption.
He played for a while in the rain, but as it got stronger with time, he had to return to the pavilion. The news regarding Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma's absence has been confirmed. Gill is set to miss due to a finger injury, while Rohit will be missing due to personal reasons. Jasprit Bumrah is ready to take charge of the team as their captain in the first test match.
Players have been sweating hard in the nets before the first Test match. Kohli's dedication would be an inspiration for many young players in the squad. One of the best in the business, there is no better player in the team than Kohli, who knows the Australians and their mindsets better. If he gets back in form, he will be a walking nightmare for the hosts. The first game starts on November 22 in Perth.
Because he hasn't got runs against New Zealand, he'll be very, very hungry: Sunil Gavaskar
Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has backed Virat Kohli ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024. As per the legendary batter around whom the series is named, Kohli will be hungry for runs since he hasn't scored in a while. It's a warning for Australia to not take him lightly.
"Because he hasn't got runs against New Zealand, he'll be very, very hungry. Even in that Adelaide Test match, where in the second innings we got all out for 36, in the first innings, Kohli got 70 plus, if I recall correctly, before being run out. He's consistently performed at Adelaide, so it's a familiar ground for him," said Sunil Gavaskar.
