Former Australian bowler Glenn McGrath has asked the home team to target Virat Kohli during the upcoming five-match Test series. The 36-year-old Indian batting ace is on his fifth tour of Australia and has a good record Down Under. India’s former skipper has been in focus on his bad run of form during the recent home season.

While speaking to Fox Sports as quoted by ‘CODE Sports’, the former Aussie pacer said “Without a doubt, especially after coming off a 3-0 loss against New Zealand, you’ve got plenty of ammunition to back yourself up. I think he’s probably under pressure a little bit, and if he has a couple of low scores to start with, he could feel it. I think he’s quite an emotional player. When he’s up, he’s up, and when he’s down, he sort of struggles a little bit,”

Virat Kohli will assume a huge role in the batting order with Shubman Gill ruled out. Rohit Sharma’s participation in the opening Test match to be played in Perth is also doubtful. India’s skipper is yet to depart for Australia after staying back home to welcome the birth of his second child.

Mitchell Johnson wants to see Virat Kohli score a ton

Yet another former Australian bowler Mitchell Johnson has paid huge compliments to Virat Kohli in his piece for West Australian. The former seamer enjoyed a huge rivalry with India’s star batter during the 2014/15 series where Kohli scored 4 centuries.

Johnson wrote “One of Kohli’s attributes stood out early to me above all others – he was up for the fight. That kind of aggressive attitude was something we had rarely seen from an Indian player at that point. We were used to giving it but didn’t always get it back in return,"

The former Aussie star went on to add “His (Virat Kohli's) form hasn’t been at its best recently and he will be under pressure to perform again here in front of the many Indian fans who will turn out. I wonder if the situation will give him all the determination he needs or if it will all be too much for him. As a fan now watching on, maybe I’d like to see him make one more ton in Australia”
