The Indian Cricket Board has recently announced the final 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is slated to take place on June 1 in the West Indies and the USA. Notably, the side has marked the surprise omission of some of the players in the squad despite having received good performances.

Notably, Rohit Sharma will once again be leading the side in the marquee event. The star cricketer led the side in the T20 World Cup 2022 as well; however, they were knocked out by England after an embarrassing defeat in the semi-finals. Meanwhile, here were some players who were part of the T20 World Cup 2022 but did not place themselves in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Here are the five players:

5 Bhuvneshwar Kumar

India's star cricketer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, was the first choice for pace attack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah in 2021 and 2022. However, the right-arm pacer didn't have a great edition of the T20 World Cup 2022, especially in the game against England in the semi-finals, where Rohit Sharma and Co. suffered a 10-wicket loss at Adelaide. However, following the same, he didn't get the chance in any formats for the national side.

4 Mohammed Shami

It's true that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee was not forced to pick him, not because of his form but due to his unavailability for the T20 World Cup 2024. The right-arm pacer last played the game of the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia, and following the same, he went through surgery. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. will definitely miss him in the marquee event, as he was the most destructive bowler in the ODI World Cup 2023.

3 Ravichandran Ashwin

Notably, the great all-rounder was part of the T20 World Cup 2022,and he hit the winning boundary against Pakistan at the MGC. However, the 37-year-old cricketer is not part of the marquee event despite having a great season at the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, it seems that the great player will only look into Test matches in white-ball games.

2 Dinesh Karthik

India's wicketkeeper batter, Dinesh Karthik, played his last international game in the 2022 T20 World Cup. Notably, the star cricketer has had a great IPL 2022 as he performed well in the bilateral series; however, he failed to make an impact in any of the single matches in the T20 World Cup 2022, and this is the reason selectors have ignored him for the T20 World Cup 2024.

KL Rahul

LSG skipper KL Rahul failed to make his presence in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad despite performing extremely well in the IPL 2024.

However, selector Ajit Agarkar has revealed that the side is in need of middle-order batters, and KL Rahul is batting at the top of the order in IPL 2024, which prompted them to go with Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant in the T20 World Cup 2024.
