The Indian Premier League (IPL) is close to its business end with 44 matches completed in the tournament. After another high-scoring thriller in the first game of the Super Saturday, we witnessed a high-scoring one-sided game in Lucknow where the Lucknow SuperGiants were hosting the Rajasthan Royals. RR skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl in what looked like a great wicket at the Ekana. Things did not start well for Lucknow as they lost two early wickets in the powerplay. However, the partnership between KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda made sure the chase got back on track.

The SuperGiants eventually got to 196 in the end but might have fallen five to ten runs short due to some great death bowling by Sandeep Sharma and Avesh Khan. The Rajasthan Royals chase as usual started well although there were a few hiccups between Captain Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel made sure that their side got over the line with just one over to spare. This game though was one-sided still had some great performances from either side which impressed everyone.

So, without further ado here are the top 5 best performances in the match between LSG and RR:

5. Sandeep Sharma- 2/31 in 4 overs

SS

This match was not a game for the bowlers to remember at all and that is why this spell from Sandeep Sharma was really important. Not only was he the best bowler in the RR attack but the best bowler on the night. His spell of 2 for 31 in 4 overs was very handy in restricting the SuperGiants under 200 and also got two big wickets of Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran as well.

4. Deepak Hooda- 50 from 31 deliveries

DH

This was a very important knock from the all-rounder who came at a time when his team was in trouble. Deepak Hooda’s innings of 50 from 31 deliveries included 7 boundaries and was also striking at over 160. This was a great knock from the all-rounder giving the required support to his skipper in the middle making sure he set a great platform for his team. This shows Hooda is more than just a slogger down the order.

3. Dhruv Jurel- 52 from 34 deliveries

Dhruv Jurel

We know that Dhruv Jurel is one of the upcoming talents in the RR squad but he still needed a knock to showcase his potential completely this season. This knock from the 23-year-old wicketkeeper batter made sure that he supported his skipper and took his side home. He remained unbeaten on 52 from just 34 deliveries hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes. He also maintained a healthy strike rate of 152.94 to make sure that the team was not under pressure.

2. KL Rahul- 76 from 48 deliveries

KL

This was another captain’s knock from LSG skipper KL Rahul who once again looked in great touch in this game. This knock also came at an important and once again showed the maturity and class of the talented batter. His innings of 76 from just 48 balls made sure his team reached a respectable total in the end. Though this might have ended in a losing cause it was still a great innings from Rahul which displayed why he is one of the best batters in the side.

1. Sanju Samson- 71 from 33 deliveries

190

Speaking of captains' knocks, we cannot leave out the knock that made everything possible. After losing their in-form openers it was up to Sanju Samson to get his side home. He did that by staying unbeaten on 71 from 33 deliveries and striking over 200 in the match. His innings also consisted of 7 fours and 4 sixes as well. This was a real match-winning knock from the Rajasthan skipper to get his side over the line. There is no doubt that he deserves the player of the match after this performance.
