After facing an embarrassing defeat from USA, Pakistan clashed against India in the 19th match of the T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Green were favoured with their luck from the start as skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to field first. India skipper Rohit Sharma also admitted that he was also thinking of taking the field first.

Pakistan's young gun, Naseem Shah, provided the first and most important breakthrough to the team by dismissing Virat Kohli in the second over of the match. Shaheen Afridi got rid of Rohit in the 3rd over. Surprisingly, Axar Patel came to bat at no. 4 and steadied the ship with Rishabh Pant but Naseem came up with another breakthrough by dismissing Axar.

India’s middle order collapsed horribly, however, Pant kept one end safe but didn’t get much support from any other batter as the Men in Blue got bundled out on just 119 runs. Pakistan’s strong fast bowling lineup worked really well for the team, in addition to that, spinner Imad Wasim also bowled well as he conceded only 17 runs after 3 overs but went wicketless.

Brilliant bowling performance from Indian bowlers

Chasing the target, Pakistan’s experienced openers Babar and Mohammad Rizwan started pretty well. However, Jasprit Bumrah’s introduction in the 3rd over nearly provided India their first breakthrough but Shivam Dube dropped a jolly. But Bumrah got Babar in his second over.

Rizwan kept the one end safe but Pakistan started losing wickets from the other end which helped the Indian team to make a comeback in the match. Bumrah's second wicket came at a crucial point as he got rid of Rizwan with a peach of a delivery which shattered the Paksitan wicketkeeper-batter's stumps.

The Men in Green then never came back in the match and faced another embarrassing loss as they failed to chase a small target of 120 runs. It's going to be pretty hard to qualify for the Pakistan team in the Super 8 as they have already lost their first two matches.
