The pacer replied “I don’t look at things that way, yes I have felt good that the results have been in my favour but I have bowled better at different places but this is how cricket goes”

The pacer also said, “On some days your execution could be off and you get wickets and some days your execution be perfect and you don’t get wickets. So I think it all evenly balances out someday”. Bumrah began with a fifer in Perth to take 8 wickets in the game to follow up with 4 wickets in Adelaide. This was followed by his 9-wicket haul at the Gabba where Bumrah picked 6 wickets in the 1st innings of the game.

When asked how Bumrah felt bowling to Sam Konstas on the opening day of the game, the pacer replied “I have experienced heaps of it, have played T20 cricket a lot, more than 12 years of it (T20 cricket). Interesting batsman as well and I always felt I was in the game and never felt I was far away from a wicket”

The 31-year-old added “Initially felt I could get him out 6-7 times in the first few overs but that’s how the game goes. Somedays it pays off and on some, it doesn’t. But then you might be criticizing the same person, that’s how the game is and I love the different challenges and I always love a new challenge”

Bumrah was asked about his experience of bowling in Australia as this is his 3rd tour, “I always love bowling here I have come here for my first tour in 2018 and I made my ODI debut here in 2016 as well. So yes it brings out a lot of challenges because the wickets are flat, the Kookaburra ball does a bit when it’s new but it doesn’t do much as it gets older. The weather can sometimes test your patience and fitness so once you come out on top after it leaves you in a good space after that and you become a better cricketer”

Former Aussie pacer Trent Copeland asked Bumrah about the state of the game before play began on Saturday. To this, the Indian star player replied, “We were in good spirits but little disappointed in the last 20 minutes on how it went since both batters were playing well. The momentum shifted a bit but it’s a new day and we back our batters the wickets have been really good. I was jokingly telling to Pat Cummins that ‘this wicket is a Christmas present to the batters’ hopefully we back our batters too and take it as deep as possible and score runs”

Finally, Bumrah was asked how he felt bowling to guys like Steve Smith who have rediscovered their form “He’s always been a challenge because you know he is a little unorthodox a bit like me when I bowl not a conventional batter somedays he shuffles and someday he doesn’t so it’s a new challenge because he scores in different areas of the ground and the key is to be consistent and try to bowl good balls and I have had good battles with him in all formats that I have played against him for a long period of time. One of the greats of the game in this format and always difficult to bowl and he played a great innings."
