After a disappointing performance in the two games of the ODI series against Sri Lanka, Virat Kohli is all set to play in the 3rd ODI game on 7th August. There are questions about why the world-class player has failed to perform against Sri Lanka. Moreover, he is giving wickets to spinners, which is supposed to be his strong point. Talking about Kohli and his struggle against spin, former Pakistan player Basit Ali said he is shocked that Kohli isn't able to score against spin.

"A great batsman like Virat Kohli, the world's number one batsman, has been out LBW twice. It's understandable if it happens to Iyer or Dube, but Virat Kohli is Virat Kohli. This means that he is not in practice. It did not seem that this was the batting lineup which ruled the world. I feel that Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul probably haven't even practised. These people have come without practice," said Basit on his YouTube channel.

Other players like Shivam Dube, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul haven't performed in the series as well. The last game will be extremely crucial for India as they must pay for their pride or else Sri Lanka will win the series and create history.

I think the time has come for Rishabh Pant: Basit Ali

Amidst the low performance of Indian batters in the ongoing Sri Lanka series, Basit Ali has opined on getting Rishabh Pant, Riyan Parag, and Rinku Singh back into the team, who will perform better than others. They have been in terrific form and practice and can score more runs in the upcoming times.

"I don't understand what is Shreyas Iyer going to do with such performances. I think the time has come for Rishabh Pant, Riyan Parag, and Rinku Singh. India's 50-over domestic tournament will be vital for Gautam Gambhir because he will have to take some players from there. If India picks players based on reputation, the results won't be too good in the Champions Trophy," he added.
