Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali showed concern as India's dressing room chats have been leaked quite frequently. In the last few months, there have been several instances where the conversations that have happened inside the dressing room have been leaked to the leading newspapers and online portals. This isn't a good sign for the team and Ali shed light on the harm it could do to the team's unity.
"There are talks that Sarfaraz leaked; the dressing room talks and the board meeting conversations were leaked. This is not a good sign [for India]; it affects the team unity. The faster it ends, the better. You have a different team in the Champions Trophy. If you win against England, it will be better for the team, but if you lose against them, the confidence level will go down," said Basit Ali.
India's performance in red ball cricket has been below par, leading to a series whitewash against New Zealand and a 1-3 defeat against Australia. Moreover, the chats from the review meeting held in between the team management and the board were also leaked, putting a question mark on how things are going around in the dressing room. Since the Champions Trophy is coming up, these controversies will surely harm the players attention in the future.
They need to be together to form a good team: Basit Ali
Basit Ali compared the Indian team's setup to Pakistan's and spoke about the relevance of the four pillars. Since it's pretty evident that something is wrong in between the management, the board should take action faster as the Champions Trophy is approaching.
"Like PCB, there are four pillars: chairman, selectors, captain, and players. They need to be together to form a good team. They should have the same mindset. Similarly for BCCI, all these four pillars should be on the same page. Such news is spread to affect the team environment and media plays a key role. Whether it’s targeted towards Virat, Rohit, or another group at Gambhir," added Basit Ali.
