Former English player Michael Vaughan has urged Ben Stokes to take quick decisions on the field during the matches to avoid slow-over rates. This statement came after Stokes spoke about the slow overrate imposed on them after the completion of the 1st Test match against New Zealand. This decreased three points from the World Test Championship (WTC) points, which didn't sit well with the English captain Stokes.

"Ben is brilliant with his tactical changes. His brain is alive in the field and that pushes the limits so he cannot then complain when his team are punished for slow over rates. They know the rules. Just do it a bit quicker. Also, Ben’s fielders know his tactics. They should instinctively be aware of where to stand. He has been in charge for long enough that it should be ingrained in the players. They do not need to be talked to after every over or ball and told where to go," said Michael Vaughan.

As per Stokes, there is no chance of having a slow-over rate in the Asian conditions because the pitches are more favourable for the spinners and they take less time to bowl. England went on to win the game by eight wickets, and the game was over in two days.

Century celebrations seem to go on for five minutes: Michael Vaughan

Michael Vaughan made a direct hit at the Indian batters like Virat Kohli and Yashavi Jaiswal for their prolonged century celebrations during the 1st Test match against Australia. He took a jibe at the players and mentioned clearly that they had their 'Instagram or TikTok moments', but that didn't come under a slow-over rate.

"In the Perth Test between Australia and India recently only 77 overs were bowled on one day. Century celebrations seem to go on for five minutes. It used to be a quick handshake with your partner and a wave of the bat to the crowd. But Virat Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s celebrations seemed to go on and on. It was their Instagram or TikTok moment, and I get that, but it just means more delays while they soak it up and pose for the cameras," said Michael Vaughan.
