India and England are set to take on each other in the highly anticipated five-match Test series, starting on June 20 later this summer. The series will be played in England and the hosts will aim for revenge as they lost by 1-4 in the five-match Test series against India last year in 2024.
Meanwhile, the star England batter Ben Duckett has come up with a blunt statement while speaking about his potential face-off with the star India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Duckett also shared his experience of facing Jasprit Bumrah in the past, especially in a five-match Test series.
I know what he's going to do to me – Ben Duckett
Notably, Duckett was one of the key batters for the English side when they toured India last year for a five-match Test series, which they eventually lost by a big margin.
“I’ve faced Jasprit Bumrah in a 5 Test series. I know what he's going to do to me, and the good thing about that is I know what skills he has. There's going to be nothing that surprises me,” said Duckett to Daily Mail.
“It’s going to be challenging, and the red-ball skills of Mohammed Shami are just as threatening as Bumrah. But if I can get through that opening spell, I feel there are runs to be had,” he added later.
Apart from Duckett’s take on face-off with Bumrah, former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond also came up with a crucial piece of advice for the Indian team management. Bond suggested the Indian management to use Bumrah cautiously in the upcoming five-match Test series against England.
“They may say, look, it’s four Test matches in total. Or three. If we can get him through the English summer and he’s fit, we can probably then go with some confidence that we can carry him across the rest of the formats. So that’s hard because he is your best bowler, but if he has another injury in the same spot, that could be a career-ender, potentially, because I’m not sure you can have surgery on that spot again,” said Bond to ESPNCricinfo.
