Virat Kohli has done it again. Playing against Australia, in their home conditions and scoring a century which has always been Kohli's thing. In the ongoing first Test match, he scored his 81st century in international cricket. This was his 30th century in Test cricket, coming off in 143 balls. It was one of his best innings, full of intent and enthusiasm.
Came to bat after Devdutt Padikkal's departure, Kohli played like an experienced batter who owns Australia in their own home ground. After a year Virat hit a century, and India declared the innings, scoring 487 runs for the loss of six wickets. Now, the visitors have a lead of 533 runs and the Australians will have two days to chase it.
The wicket has become flat, suitable for the batters, so the hosts have a good chance of winning the game. However, it's an unpredictable game and anything can happen. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a wonderful innings, scoring 161 runs in 297 balls. KL Rahul scored 77 runs in 176 balls.
Mitchell Marsh was the standout bowler for Australia, claiming two wickets while all the other bowlers took one wicket each. The Indian batters put in a great effort with the bat and the ball. They dominated the game quite confidently and will look to do the same in the last innings as well.
I take pride in performing for the country: Virat Kohli
Right after scoring the century, Virat Kohli was about his performance and what was going on in his mind to which he said quite confidently that he takes pride in playing for his country. Moreover, the century in the game is credited to his wife Anushka Sharma for standing by him through all the odds. Anushka was present at the ground, supporting and cheering for her beloved husband.
"Anushka has been right by my side through thick and thin. She knows everything that goes on behind the scenes. Knows what goes on in the head when you're not performing well. I'm not a guy who hangs around for the sake of it. I take pride in performing for the country," said Kohli.
