Former RCB skipper and the modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli has once again managed to rise on the occasion as he smashed the first century in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. Kohli played an amazing unbeaten knock of 113 runs off just 72 balls, with 12 fours and 4 sixes in the 19th match of the tournament against the Rajasthan Royals.
It is also the 8th century for RCB’s batting stalwart in his IPL career since he started playing from the inaugural season 16 years back in the year 2008. With the 113-run knock against Rajasthan Royals, Kohli also moved to the top spot in the list of the leading run-scorers in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
He has now scored 316 runs in the 5 innings of the 5 matches (including the ongoing clash against Rajasthan Royals), scoring 2 half-centuries and a century. The 35-year-old has a sensational average of 105.33, with 29 fours and 12 sixes with the bat. Now, the RCB star has overtaken Rajasthan Royals’ Riyan Parag in the race for the orange cap.
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis lead the charge for RCB
Speaking of the action of the ongoing match between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the hosts’ skipper Sanju Samson won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first; batting first, the star opening pair of former skipper Virat Kohli and current skipper Faf du Plessis provided an outstanding start of 125 runs for the first wicket in 14 overs.
Faf du Plessis scored 44 runs off 33 balls, with 2 fours and 2 sixes; these two knocks helped RCB to post a decent total of 183 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal scalped 1 and 2 wickets, respectively for the Rajasthan Royals.
The fans have also come up with a lot of praising reactions for Virat Kohli on X (formerly Twitter) following his scoring the first century in the current season of the Indian Premier League.

If Virat goes out early, or if he loses his wicket while managing the strike rate this team will definitely be all out before completing 20 overs. They may even fail to score a 3 digit run total on the board.#KingKohli
