Kevin Pietersen: (X)
Former English cricketer Kevin Pietersen revealed about the aura Rohit Sharma carries to the field. He mentioned one incident where the English players were looking at Rohit when he walked down the dressing room. The Indian captain hasn't been putting runs on the board, which has put him under scrutiny. Even in the first game against England, he scored just two runs. With the Champions Trophy coming up, without the prime form of Rohit, it will be difficult for India to win the tournament.
"Can I tell you something. When Rohit Sharma walked down, we had visuals of the England dressing room. When the whole crowd went up, all of the England team started staring at him," he said. "That's intimidating, that's aura, and that's something he created; not because he's Rohit Sharma, but because of the runs he scored, because of his average. Honestly, it's unbelievable. Rohit Sharma exits the dressing room, and the crowd goes absolutely mental," said Kevin Pietersen.
The second game of the series is on February 9, in Cuttack. If India win the game, they'll cease the series. However, if England win it, they series will be open until the last game.
Not that Pakistan's AQI is much better: Aakash Chopra
Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra slammed England batters and criticised them for not playing spin properly. It was pretty evident during the T20I series that the batters failed to read spin or even understand it. Varun Chakaravarty was the man with the golden arm as he finished off the entire team. England will face the same issue in the Champions Trophy as well with teams like Pakistan and Afghanistan who are heavy on spinners.
"They are unable to play straight balls properly. Sometimes the AQI comes in between, that they are unable to see the ball. Not that Pakistan's AQI is much better. You don't see that much might in batting for them to take down spin. How many players can do that for England?" said Aakash Chopra.
