As the dust is settling down after the just-concluded IPL 2024, all teams are now gearing up their preparations and heading to the USA and West Indies for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will commence on June 1 with the inaugural match of the tournament between the co-hosts USA and Canada.

Meanwhile, the Australia skipper for the ICC T20 WC 2024 came up with a major update on his injury as a group of 8-9 Aussie players flew to West Indies, where they will play the warm-up game against Namibia.

Coming back to Mitchell Marsh, he was ruled out of the tournament in the initial phase of the Indian Premier League 2024. He was in action for the Delhi Capitals, opening the batting for his side, alongside his Aussie teammate David Warner.

"Probably still a little while off" - Mitchell Marsh about his injury

Marsh also spoke about his availability for the team and an update if he will be batting or bowling or doing both in the marquee international tournament.

“It's been progressively slow, but I'm finally getting there now and looking forward to getting stuck into the tournament. Initially, we thought it was a three-weeker, but with tendons, they can take a little bit longer and you've sort of got to go on feel. Once I was ruled out of the IPL, we've certainly taken our time to get right. And I feel lucky that I've had that bit of extra time, a little bit of time at home to refresh,” said Marsh to Cricket Australia.

“Probably still a little while off. I'll start bowling hopefully soon. Get through these practice games as a batter and then we'll ramp it up. But it's one of the beauties of being captain now, I don't have to bowl myself. We're lucky that we've got so many options with ball and so much talent, Stoin (Marcus Stoinis) and Greenie (Cameron Green), and we've got a lot of options,” he added later.

Meanwhile, in another update on developments about the Australian team, they’ll be forced to play with only 8-9 players in the warm-up game against Namibia. It is because a couple of players will be arriving late in the USA and West Indies as they were a part of the just-concluded IPL 2024.
