As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024 kicked in today, November 22, team India won the toss and chose to bat first. Captain Jaspirt Bumrah turned out to have a bit of luck in his support as he went on to win the toss. While most of the team was anticipated, there were a few changes that came completely out of the blue.

Newcomers Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy got their debut caps, while Washington Sundar was chosen ahead of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in the squad. Team India went with their current forms rather than experience which might hit them back as the game progresses.

Harshit Rana is new to first-class cricket and has just played some 10-odd matches, making him a newcomer. The case is same with Nitish Reddy as well. Gautam Gambhir and Co. will hope that the decision doesn't backfire them. Interestingly, Washington Sundar made his way back into the Indian team. He is a spin wizard who can put in some runs on the board as well.

Hence, having him around is beneficial. Sundar is an off-spinner like Ashwin and India had a chance to choose between these two since Jadeja was out of the contention due to Australia's lefty batters. It will be exciting to watch the team filled with most of the youngsters.

Very confident with our preparation: Jasprit Bumrah

The toss went in India's favour and Jasprit Bumrah without giving it a second thought, went to bat first. The money will be on Virat Kohli now since India will be batting first. Bumrah spoke about the players and their preparations for the series. The pace bowler is ready to face Australia with his team and the confidence he carried with him at the toss was quite satisfying to watch.

"Very confident with our preparation. We played a Test match here in 2018 so we know what to expect. The wicket gets quicker," said captain Jasprit Bumrah.
