T20 World Cup 2024 pitches (Source: X)
The T20 World Cup 2024 has started on a good note, and so far, all the matches have been great. However, after the first innings of the match between Sri Lanka and South Africa, the pitches and the outfield of the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, faced some criticism due to the nature of the pitches. As per cricket experts, the pitches are difficult to bat on.
Even though there is help for fast bowlers and spinners, the pitches have an uneven bounce. Moreover, if we talk about the outfield, they are very slow. On the other hand, the Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, had a good batting pitch in the first match. The game between the US and Canada was a high-scoring game where the USA chased down 195 runs in 17.4 overs thanks to Aaron Jones' heroics.
The cricket experts and some fans are talking about the New York drop-in pitch and feel that if the pitches are like this, then the US won't be able to promote cricket since the fun factor will tarnish. However, some fans argued that flat pitches are ruining the T20 game. While it is under debate, nothing can be done since they are drop-in pitches that can't be changed much.
'There is some movement for seamers' - Ottneil Bartman on Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York
After the first innings of the 4th T20 World Cup 2024 match, Ottneil Bartman spoke about the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York, and said that the pitches were assisting the pacers. He was also happy about the way he was quite economical throughout the innings.
"The way Aiden marshalled the troops was exceptional. There is some movement for seamers, but if you apply yourself... It is a dream come true. Making debut for the T20 World Cup is exceptional," said Ottneil Bartman.
