The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is full of drama and surprises as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lost the eliminator against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by four wickets. After having a dream second half in the tournament, the team couldn't capitalise on their strengths and momentum and ended up getting knocked out. While the team's performance was appreciation-worthy, their last game didn't seem to do justice to the kind of cricket they played in the last few matches.

The RCB social media handles posted a video where Virat Kohli was heard reflecting on the team's journey and how the players showed a lot of character towards the second half of the tournament. He also spoke about the mindset of the team and that after losing six out of seven matches, they simply started playing for their self-respect.

"Our performance in the first half of the season was under-par. The standards that we have as cricketers, we were not living up to them. And then, we just started expressing ourselves, started playing for our own self-respect and then the confidence came back," said Kohli.

While the men in red played some amazing cricket in May, one bad day was enough to knock them out of the tournament. Starting from the batting to the fielding, RCB failed in all the departments and lost another chance to lift the trophy. Yet again, their dream to bring the trophy to Bengaluru remains unfulfilled.

Virat Kohli: The lone warrior

Undoubtedly, Virat Kohli is the undisputed King of Cricket. He has proved his worth time and again and has managed to shut the criticisms which revolve around his game. Be it the strike rate or his batting in general, Kohli has always been around controversies and has slammed the critics with his performance. This year again, the story repeats. Before the IPL 2024 started, Kohli's inclusion in the India team for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 was debatable.

While some said he shouldn't be included, others had a different opinion. However, after the IPL, the opinions changed drastically as Kohli scored 741 runs in 15 innings at an average of 61.75. Moreover, he played with a strike rate of 154.70. With this, he has completed 8000 runs in the IPL tournament, the most by any batter. Each year he plays, he creates new records. Hence, the quote remains, 'Virat Kohli is the undisputed King of Cricket'.
