The most controversial decision of Virat Kohli's wicket in the match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has been finally addressed by Star Sports. The full-toss bouncer which was bowled by Harshit Rana during the 2nd over took Kohli by surprise as it was above the waistline.
He did play the ball but it went straight to the bowler and Kohli was declared out to which the former RCB captain protested. However, Star Sports came forward and provided a clear explanation regarding the wicket and why Kohli was declared out in the first place.
"Virat was indeed out as per the official rule book. The rule states that for a delivery to be considered a no-ball, the ball must be at waist height as it crosses the stepping crease. In Kohli's situation, while the ball was at waist height when he encountered it, as it crossed the stepping crease, it was below waist height, making it a fair delivery basis the official rule," said Star Sports.
Virat was in red-hot form during the match as he scored 18 runs in just 7 balls. RCB did give their best and fought till the end but it wasn't sufficient for them to win the match and hence, lost the match by just 1 run. Even though unofficially RCB is out of the tournament, this game is going to hurt them for a while.

KKR's Andre Russell has been a handy all-rounder for years now. The quality of batting and bowling has increased throughout the years which has been a good sign for KKR. In the match against RCB, he delivered with the bat and the ball scoring 20 runs and taking wickets which was a huge contribution to the team's one-run victory over RCB.
"Getting the ball at a crucial time, I knew that I had to come good and thankfully it happened today. Happy for the two points. When I was batting earlier, change of pace was difficult to hit. As a bowler that’s what I wanted to do," said Russell at the post-match presentation.
