SL vs IND Preview 

It is the first ODI match of the year for Team India as they take on Sri Lanka on Friday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will bolster the team as well as the additions of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer. Sri Lanka on the other hand will be looking to bounce back from the humiliating 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series. 

Sri Lanka (SL) are coming into the ODI series with their 3-0 loss to India in the T20I series. Charith Asalanka will be worried about the constant batting collapses that have taken place so far. The middle order has been feeble and they haven’t been able to take the pressure exerted on them by the Indian bowlers. 

India (IND), meanwhile, will want to keep the foot on the pedal and keep the pressure on the hosts. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in particular will be looking to show their class with the bat. Virat Kohli has a tremendous record at this ground and he will be itching to get back on the field and continue his blistering form.

R Premadasa Stadium Pitch Report

Colombo has been a good pitch to bat on over the years. It normally favours the team that chases down the total. Bowling second at this venue has always been difficult. With a certain amount of rain around, it could see the match being affected. Pacers will get a lot of help under the cloud cover and bowlers who can swing the ball both ways will be a handful. Spinners will come into play as the ball goes softer towards the second half of the innings.
