India's one of the best skippers, Rohit Sharma, has received praise from many stalwarts after India's amazing performance in the recently ended Test series against Bangladesh. It was an unbelievable performance as the Indian batters showed their attacking game against the visitors during the 2nd Test. After the win, former Australian batter Brad Haddin praised the skipper for having a winning mindset and encouraging the players in the process.
"Rohit Sharma has been a captain, he thinks win first - everything second - they could have easily had a net session, went to a draw - no one could have said anything but the mindset of Rohit Sharma to get a result - so my hat goes off to India" said Brad Haddin on LiSTNR Sports youtube channel.
In the 2nd Test match, day 2 and 3 were abandoned due to rain, and the game resumed on the fourth day. While nobody was expecting a result, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian team made sure that they clinched victory to move a step ahead in the WTC finals race. An attacking performance from the batters led to the victory of the team. They shattered multiple records during the match as they become the fastest team to score 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 in the longest format.
The Rohit Sharma-led Indian Test team will now face New Zealand for a 3-match Test series starting on October 16. However, the bigger challenge will be up against Australia when India will face them in the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
It wasn't about the runs we get: Rohit Sharma
After winning the game against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma talked about the strategy the team had before entering the field. The Indian team was mentally prepared to win the game since their ultimate target was the qualification in the WTC finals. Now, India have to win just three out of eight games to qualify for the WTC Finals. Their next assignment is against New Zealand, which will be travelling in October to play a 3-match Test series.
"Once we lost two and a half days, when we came on day 4 we wanted to get them out as quickly as possible and see what we can do with the bat. When they got bowled out for 230, it wasn't about the runs we get but the overs we got at them," said Rohit Sharma.
