Shubman Gill hit an unbeaten ton and got India off to a rolling start in the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025. The Men in Blue won against Bangladesh in their first game of the tournament by six wickets. Rohit Sharma and Gill gave a stellar start in the second innings while chasing 229 runs.

Bangladesh bowlers were impactful as they dismissed four batters in quick succession. However, Gill's magnificent century and KL Rahul's partnership from the other end helped India win the game. Rohit scored 41 runs off 36 balls, Gill scored 101 runs off 129 balls and Rahul scored 41 runs off 47 balls.

Rishad Hossain was the standout bowler for Bangladesh as he took two wickets. He dismissed Virat Kohli, who was batting on 22 runs off 38 balls. Hossain then dismissed Axar Patel, who came ahead of KL Rahul in the game. To maintain the left-right combination, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir have stuck to the idea of sending Patel ahead of Rahul.

India won the game in the 47th over; that means their NRR wouldn't be that great. Hence, India is below New Zealand in the points table. Gill's performance won him the Player of the Match award.

One of my most satisfying innings that I have played: Shubman Gill

India's opener Shubman Gill won the Player of the Match award for his outstanding century in the game against Bangladesh. After the game, he spoke about his innings and rated it as 'one of the most satisfying innings' in his career.

"Definitely one of my most satisfying innings that I have played and my first century in ICC events. Very satisfying and very happy with the way I performed. When me and Rohit bhai went out there, we thought cutting the ball wasn't easy because the balls which were outside the off-stump weren't coming onto the bat that nicely," said Shubman Gill.
