Sanju Samson’s ton leads India to series whitewash over Bangladesh by 133 runs

Here is the complete details from the third T20I between India and Bangladesh played in Hyderabad on Saturday as Indian cricket star Sanju Samson made the day special with his maiden T20I ton.

Team India beat Bangladesh in the final T20I to wrap up the series with a 3-0 margin. This was the 2nd successive clean sweep for Suryakumar Yadav and Gautam Gambhir since taking over their roles on a full-time basis. India posted 297 on the board after winning the toss and opting to bat first. 

Bangladeshi bowlers were overjoyed after dismissing Abhishek Sharma early for just 4. That joy though was short-lived as Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav added 173 runs for the 2nd wicket. 29-year-old Sanju Samson got to his maiden T20I century off just 40 balls before perishing for 111 runs. 

Suryakumar Yadav (75), Hardik Pandya (47), and Riyan Parag (34) were the other main contributors with the bat. Tanzim Hasan Sakib was the best bowler for the visitors with 3/66 from his 4 overs. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman also picked a wicket each, Mahmudullah playing his final T20I game got the wicket of Yadav and went for 26 runs from his 2 overs. 

Ravi Bishnoi leads the charge with the ball for India

The home team brought in leg spinner Ravi Bishnoi in place of Arshdeep Singh for the game. Mayank Yadav picked the first wicket of the first ball of the innings as Parvez Emon was caught by Riyan Parag. Tanzid Hasan scored 15 off 12 balls with 3 before falling to Washington Sundar. 

Skipper Najmul Shanto fell for 14 as he went for a reverse sweep only to give a simple catch to Samson. This was the first wicket of the day for Bishnoi as the visitors slipped to 59/3 inside 6 overs. Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy decided to counterattack the Indian bowlers. 

The pair added 53 runs for the 4th wicket in 38 balls with both the batters hitting boundaries at regular intervals. That stand was broken when Das was caught by Tilak Varma to give Bishnoi his 50th T20I wicket. The leg-spinner added a third when he had Rishad Hossain caught by Abhishek Sharma to end with 3/30 from his 4 overs. 

In the end, India won the game by 133 runs and secured the series with a resounding 3-0 margin. The focus now moves to the Test series against New Zealand which begins on 16th October. T20 World Cup winners India’s next T20 assignment is against South Africa starting on 1st November where they play 4 matches.
