Former India captain MS Dhoni retired from all formats of cricket, except the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he has passed on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captaincy baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad in 2024. In the upcoming IPL season, Dhoni will feature as a keeper-batter. While the fans want him to play for some more years, the question about his retirement is quite frequent. Speaking about Dhoni and his retirement plans, India's wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson revealed that he wants him to play for some more years.
"I have to learn from my mentor here. When Mahi bhai comes to play in the IPL, people keep talking, ‘Is he retiring?’ I just keep thinking, ‘Thoda aur abhi’," said Samson during an event.

MS Dhoni went through a knee injury before the start of the IPL 2024. However, he played throughout the tournament but batted down the order. He came in during the last few overs and smashed the bowlers. It was a treat for the cricket fans to watch Dhoni bat at the age of 43. Even now, he is fitter than most of the young cricketers, which in itself is a huge thing for the player. He will be featuring in the upcoming IPL season and as everyone says, this might be his last season.
Team India's Champions Trophy 2025 journey begins tomorrow
Rohit Sharma-led Indian team will face Bangladesh in their first game of the Champions Trophy 2025. On February 20, India will start their tournament. Every game is important for all the teams, so they will look to outplay each other. Bangladesh are a good team and have a good scope of beating India in the game.
On the other hand, India will miss Jasprit Bumrah in the ICC tournament as he is missing out due to injury. Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement who is comparatively new to the format. India will have to depend on the new comers this time but the entire focus will be on the batters.
