India's historic T20 World Cup 2024 win came against South Africa as they went on to win their 6th ICC Trophy. With the win, the news of three start players' retirement broke many fans' hearts. After Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja also announced his retirement from T20I cricket. Meanwhile, Kohli shared an interesting anecdote about the photo he took with Rohit after winning the trophy with Samaira on his shoulder.

"It was a very special thing for him as well. His family is here, Samaira was on his shoulder. But I just felt like in the victory lap he was behind the whole time. I told him, you also hold the trophy for a while, for two minutes. We should take a picture together because this journey has been very long," said Virat Kohli.

India won the match by seven runs as Henrich Klaasen and David Miller almost won the match for the team. However, they failed to score 30 runs in 30 balls and gave away their wickets to Hardik Pandya. That was the match's turning point, and it helped India win.

Virat Kohli's knock of 76 runs helped India set a good total

After having a flop tournament, Virat Kohli decided to smash the bowlers along with the critics. He played a phenomenal knock of 76 runs off 59 balls, which helped India set a total of 176 runs. This was an essential knock since India lost some early wickets in the powerplays.

He anchored the innings with Axar Patel and started striking the ball after the 15th over. Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Arshdeep Singh's collective effort in the second innings helped India clinch victory over the Proteas. While India lifted the trophy after 17 years, South Africa qualified for the finals in an ICC event for the first time.
