Rajasthan Royals (RR) batter Shimron Hetmyer has been fined 10% of his match fees after Qualifier 2 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). He was fined for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. SRH defeated RR by 36 runs to reach the Finals where they'll play against the mighty Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

"Hetmyer committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," said IPL Press release.

The IPL's Code of Conduct, Article 2.20 says, “includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a Player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board, " quoted by Hindustan Times.

While the reasons behind the fine aren't revealed, Hetmyer's reaction after his dismissal made this punishment pretty evident. After getting bowled by Abhishek Sharma in the 14th over of the chase, Hetmyer tried to smash the stumps in frustration. Rajasthan's batting lineup failed massively due to which they lost the match against the Orange Army.

'There's a great vibe in the squad' - Skipper Pat Cummins praises the team for brilliant performance against RR

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain Pat Cummins is overwhelmed by the team's performance against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Qualifier 2. While the batting order failed, the bowlers did extremely well to clinch the victory. The spinners were the stars in the evening with Shahbaz Ahmed (3/23) and Abhishek Sharma (2/24) sharing five wickets as RR could manage just 139/ 7 in 20 overs.

"There's a great vibe in the squad as you can see and the final was the goal at the start of the season and we made it. We knew our strength was our batting and we wouldn't underestimate the experience we have in this squad, it's a dream having Bhuvi, Nattu and Unadkat, makes my job easy," said Cummins at the post-match presentation.
