In just one week all ten teams have to name the players they are retaining for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) Auctions. According to reports carried by the Times of India, Delhi Capitals fans could be in for a shock, as per reports, Rishabh Pant is keen to make himself available for the upcoming auctions.
The report also stated that Royal Challengers Bengaluru are one of the three teams showing early interest in the 27-year-old. The other two sides named are Lucknow Super Giants and Kings XI Punjab. Even Chennai Super Kings could come into the fray looking to sign the Indian star.
Just a few weeks prior to this, Delhi Capitals' co-owner Parth Jindal said, “Yes, we definitely have to retain. We have some very good players in our team. The rules have just come out, so after discussing with GMR and our director of cricket, Sourav Ganguly, decisions will be made.”
Lucknow could be a good option as reports suggest that KL Rahul is set to be released. India Today suggested that Mayank Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, and Nicholas Pooran are the three names that could be retained for the upcoming season.
Former Indian star joins Delhi Capitals as talent scout
Ex-Indian cricket star Vijay Bharadwaj has joined the team as the talent scout for Delhi Capitals. Ricky Ponting’s departure means that the capitals are keen to rejig their backroom staff. Even former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has been shifted to the WPL and SA20 teams.
Pant has been associated with Delhi Capitals ever since his IPL debut. Just a few days ago, the 27-year-old took to X and posted a message speculating his willingness to enter the auction pool. This set the cat amongst the pigeons amongst the fans in Delhi about losing their star player.
The 27-year-old has been in amazing form with the bat and scored one century and 99 in 3 Test matches since his return to the longest format. The youngster will be keen to join a new team and win the IPL title.
