Meanwhile, a news report learned that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) looked firm in their restrictions on the players while travelling for foreign tours with Team India. Notably, the cricket board came up with some strict guidelines just after India’s defeat against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.

A recent report revealed that the Board refused to allow one of the senior players of the team to travel with his family for the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. However, the BCCI source didn’t disclose the name of the player who has been denied to take family.

“Families won't be accompanying the players” – BCCI source

Some of the senior players in India’s Champions Trophy squad are Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Axar Patel.

“If anything changes then it is different, but as of now, the players are unlikely to be accompanied by their wives or partners for this tour. One of the senior players had enquired about it and he was told that the policy decision will be followed,” the BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI.

“Since the tour is of less than one month, families won't be accompanying the players. But if exceptions are made, I think that individual will have to bear the full expenses as the BCCI won't be covering any cost,” the source added later.

Rohit Sharma’s men are placed with the arch-rivals Pakistan in the tournament’s Group A, alongside New Zealand and Bangladesh as two other teams in the group. India will take on the arch-rivals Pakistan in the high-octane clash on February 23, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
