Kohli had retired from the Test format on Monday after playing 123 games for the national side. RCB fans are planning to wear all white as a sign of respect for Kohli, who has a huge fan following in Bengaluru. One message doing the rounds on social media is encouraging the fans to wear the Test kit as a tribute for India’s former skipper.
Virat Kohli is the second Indian player within a week to announce his Test retirement. Rohit Sharma had moved away from the longest format of the game last Wednesday. Team India are set to take on England next in a five-match series, with the first game set to be played on 20th June.

This will indirectly impact the playing conditions.#RCBhttps://t.co/I0m2xYyj7i
Meanwhile, RCB Fan Army officials posted a tweet opposing the move and wrote, “Do not do this! This will indirectly impact the playing conditions.” The same fan army also took to their Instagram handle and posted a note which read, “We all feel the emotion of Virat’s test farewell. But wearing whites to a T20/ODI can affect the visibility and lead to dropped catches. Let’s honour him with love. Not risking the game”
Former India star expresses displeasure over Virat’s retirement
India’s former skipper and 1983 World Cup winner Kris Srikkanth isn’t happy with the fact that Virat Kohli has retired. Speaking to Revsportz, Srikkanth said, “If I was the chairman now, I would say, ‘Boss, you captain the team, bring back glory to Indian Test cricket, and then leave Test cricket.”
Srikkanth also added, “The selectors should have convinced him. Had I been there, I would have spoken to him and asked him to captain India in England. Bring back the glory days to India’s Test cricket and retire. That would have made it the perfect end."
