Indian spinner Ravichandran is set for a comeback to Chennai Super Kings despite being in contract with Rajasthan Royals. It has come to light that India Cements, which owns the franchise, has decided to bring Ravichandran Ashwin into the fold as a high-performance coach.

The veteran Indian spinner will be working with the next generation of Chennai Super Kings players. Ashwin’s future in the IPL will be a topic of interest as there is a mega action planned ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

The academy that India Cements is planning is set to be completed by July of 2025 which would mean that Ashwin will be able to take the new role as the season will be over by then.

Chennai Super Kings CEO announces Ashwin’s return

During a chat with Sportstar, Chennai Super Kings CEO, Kasi Viswanathan said, “We are excited to have Ashwin back. He will have a huge role to play at Superkings Ventures and our High-Performance Centre. He is one of the best cricketers from Tamil Nadu and is known for his drive towards excellence. His commitment to the game at any level, be it for India, Tamil Nadu, or even the club, is well known. He will be a great person to guide the centre and nurture the young talents coming through.”

Meanwhile, like the rest of the Indian fans, Ravichandran Ashwin too will be glued to the TV sets. The veteran was asked to speak about the chances that the Indian batters could have in a bowler-dominated tournament so far.

Ashwin said to the media “It’s like going into a CBSE Maths exam where you necessarily haven’t seen the sums, but you know the formula. So, Virat and Rohit know what to expect there. They will be able to find the answers even if the conditions are not in their favour”

When asked who will be the leading scorer during the tournament, Ashwin said, “I feel like Virat Kohli is gonna be top in those conditions because of what happens in the West Indies, you need to see T20 cricket has gone so far that you can be skewed by what’s happened in the IPL.In conditions like the West Indies, you must be able to adapt, you must have the ability to say, ‘I’ve been there, I’ve done it, I’ve seen this.’ And, these are the answers."
