India faced a crushing defeat against New Zealand in the 1st Test match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. After bowling out India for 46 runs in the first innings, the Kiwis went on to win the match by eight wickets. It was an easy win for them as they had to chase just 107 runs on a good pitch. Even though India made a brilliant comeback in the 2nd innings, 107 runs was a low score and wasn't defendable for the bowlers.

Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant's magnificent knocks helped India take a lead in the 2nd innings and it felt like the tables might turn. However, KL Rahul's failure in the second innings was one of the main reasons behind this defeat. The tail-enders couldn't contribute much as well. On the other hand, New Zealand batters did their best to finish the game in the first session itself.

On day five, Jasprit Bumrah drew the blood early as he sent skipper Tom Latham back to the pavilion. However, Will Young (48) and Rachin Ravindra (39) showed their batting prowess, taking the team past the victory line. New Zealand won a game in India after 36 years, which is a huge achievement. India have always been a challenging team on their home ground and this loss broke the streak. Rachin Ravindra won the Player of the Match award for a top-notch performance in both innings.

I was trying to play on different surfaces: Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra had a terrific outing in Bengaluru as he went on to score a century in the first innings and played a good knock in the second innings to lead the team to victory. His winning mindset was the reason behind his brilliant efforts in the field. He came in and started his innings with a boundary which showed his passion for the game.

"Preparation does help. I was trying to play on different surfaces, red roil and black soil, different kind of bowlers. Fortunate to have got those facilities in Chennai. I wouldn't say I am looking to attack but I'm hoping I can score. Loving the support," said Rachin Ravindra.
