Pakistan clinch victory over Ireland in their last game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by three wickets. The batters struggled, but skipper Babar Azam ensured the team won the last match despite failing to qualify for the Super 8. However, Ireland's bowlers did a great job sending half of the team back to the pavilion even though the Men in Green chased a target of 107.

On winning the toss, Pakistan chose to field first, allowing Ireland to bat and set a good target. However, Ireland's batters failed miserably, as the entire team could only score 106 runs. Delany's 31 runs off 19 balls and Joshua Little's 22 runs off 18 balls helped them reach this target. Pakistan's bowlers did a phenomenal job in dismissing the batters under a low target. Shaheen Afridi and Imad Wasim took three wickets each, while Mohammad Amir took two wickets.

When Pakistan came to bat, Ireland's bowlers sent half of the team back at just 57 runs, and from there, it seemed like they would win the game. However, Captain Azam played a beautiful knock (32) and ensured victory for the team. Barry McCarthy took three wickets for Ireland, while Curtis Campher took two. Shaheen Afridi was given the Player of the Match for his 3/8.

Pakistan is out of the T20 World Cup 2024

The loss against the USA cost Pakistan the T20 World Cup 2024. This time, the Men in Green failed to make an impact in the tournament and, hence, were eliminated from the first round. Instead of them, the USA qualified for the Super 8 along with India. Both teams had performed brilliantly in the ongoing marquee event and deserved a place in the 2nd stage.

With this, Pakistan will have to play the qualifiers next year to play in the T20 World Cup 2026, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka. If they continue to perform this way, they might not get a chance to be a part of the World Cup the next season.
