Pooran came out to bat in the second over with former SRH skipper Aiden Markram being dismissed for one run. Mohammed Shami had Markram driving on the up as Pat Cummins took an easy catch. The West Indian batter began his carnage with two successive sixes off Simarjeet Singh. The second six saw Pooran pull the ball deep into the stands as the SRH fans were silenced.

In the next over, Shami could have dismissed Pooran if Aniket Verma had held onto to a tough chance. The ball sped to the boundary for four runs, as Pooran moved to 22 runs from just eight balls. Not to be outdone, Marsh hit Shami for two successive sixes as LSG had raced to 49 runs for the loss of one wicket after just four overs.

There was no stopping the left-handed batter who welcome Pat Cummins to the bowling crease with two fours. By the end of the powerplay overs, LSG had reached 77 runs for the loss of one wicket. Pat Cummins decided to bring Adam Zampa as the impact player and the Aussie spinner was smashed for 19 runs in his opening over to help LSG maintain their momentum.

Aniket Verma smashed 36 off 15 balls with the help of five huge sixes. Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers with 4/34 from his four overs which also included his 100th wicket in the IPL.
