'Never gets overawed with the pressure...' - Rohit Sharma all praises for KL Rahul after India's historic Champions Trophy 2025 win

India Skipper Rohit Sharma was all praises for his teammate and star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul after India clinched the historic Champions Trophy 2025 title. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand in the tournament’s final by a 4-wicket margin to clinch the Champions Trophy for the third time, apart from a shared title win in 2002.

Coming back to Rohit Sharma’s praising remarks for KL Rahul, the former lauded the wicketkeeper-batter for his valiant efforts in helping India win the games throughout the entire tournament.

Notably, KL Rahul played some crucial knocks in the tournament to take India over the line, especially in the semifinal against Australia and in the historic final against New Zealand in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

“[KL Rahul] A very solid mind, never gets overawed with the pressure around him. He finished off the game for us. He picks the right shot to play in the pressure situation which allows the rest of the batters to play freely,” said Rohit Sharma to ICC broadcaster Ian Bishop during the post-match presentation.

Furthermore, Rohit also continued and praised Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy for their efforts in the team’s important wins in the semi-final against Australia and the final against New Zealand.

“For eg, Hardik. The overall batsmanship shown by all the batters was special. [On Chakravarthy] He has something different about him. When you are playing on such a pitch, you want to have something like him. He didn't start but played later and got wickets. Luckily for us, it came to handy. Very grateful to the fans. We appreciate their support. It may not be seen as useful, but when they come out, it makes a difference,” he added later.

Apart from praising his teammates, Rohit also extended his gratitude to the Indian supporters who were present in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai to witness the historic Final. 

“I appreciate everyone who came to support us. The crowd has been amazing. Not our home ground, but they made it our home ground. It was a very satisfying win. Right from the beginning, our spinners... There are too many expectations but they never disappoint. It helped them, and we used that to our advantage. We were very consistent with our bowling,” he said.
