KL Rahul has been a brilliant batter for India in all the formats. Even though he hasn't been consistent due to his injuries, he has played some solid knocks against the best countries in the world, helping India win. However, his contributions are mostly overlooked by his recent performance by fans and experts. The Indian management has always backed him and is doing so for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024.

However, India's flexible batter has some different dreams and aspirations for the upcoming year. Rahul wants to get back into the T20I side after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. His next aim is to cement his place in the shortest format of the game because he's been away for a really long time.

During a recent interview with Star Sports, Rahul revealed his desire to play for T20I and said, "My aim is to obviously get back into the T20 team." Rahul is an extremely flexible player who can bat at any position, which is why he gets a lot of backing from the management. Plus, he's a wicket-keeper, which is an added advantage for him.

Gambhir was asked about KL Rahul and his chances in the team, to which the head coach replied, saying he's a flexible player and might be included in the playing XI for the first Test match if Rohit Sharma pulls out. The head coach didn't reveal whether Rohit would play in the first game or not.

"KL Rahul can bat in the top order, he can bat at 3, he can play at 6 - so you need a lot of talent to do all these jobs & he keeps in ODIs - imagine how many countries have players like KL and he is one of the options if Rohit is not available," said Gautam Gambhir.
