CSK Skipper MS Dhoni has officially skipped the practice session ahead of their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders in Kolkata. The former Team India captain is having one of the worst seasons in IPL, with CSK placed last in the points table. The 2011 World Cup-winning captain is again leading the CSK team after Ruturaj Gaikwad suffered an elbow injury.
We already have many rumours surrounding MS Dhoni’s future in the team, as many speculate the Ranchi-based cricketer to retire after this IPL 2025 season. As Dhoni skipped the practice session, the retirement rumours have touched new heights. But CSK bowling coach Eric Simons cleared the rumours, saying the former Team India skipper is match fit and will take the field against KKR.

Simons said, “Yes, he's expected to play tomorrow. With regards to MS, he knows his situation very well. He knows where he is. In terms of his preparations, he always works very hard at the beginning of a tournament and then allows himself to taper off because he gets himself in a space where he's ready. So no issues, he just knows when he is prepared and when he's not.”
The clash against KKR could also be the final appearance of MS Dhoni in the iconic Eden Gardens, where he had many great memories while playing for Team India. The bowling coach also said, “You see MS Dhoni as the cricketer, we always see MS Dhoni as the man who is a remarkable individual. His influence on the team, his ability to nurture Rutu, to nurture young cricketers, is what's legendary about him.”
Many expect MS Dhoni to retire in CSK’s final match at Chepauk, which is against the Gujarat Titans. Chennai Super Kings became the first team to be eliminated from the season. The team’s auction strategy completely backfired, and the players who have been picked as replacements, like Mhatre and Brewis, are performing outstandingly well for the team.
