Indian pace bowler Mohammed Shami has given a positive update ahead of his return to the field. The 33-year-old is aiming to make his return to the team for the Test series against Bangladesh. The first game will be played on 19th September at the Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Speaking to the media, Shami said “I am trying hard, but hopefully you will get to see me in Bengal colors before I don the India jersey again. I will come to play two-three matches for Bengal and will come fully prepared for it”

Ajit Agarkar had hopefully said that Mohammed Shami will be in line for a return to the side soon. The fast bowler according to Snehashish Ganguly is doing everything possible to get fully fit for the huge series against Australia later this year.

Mohammed Shami has been given an extended time to comeback by the BCCI. The right-arm pacer wasn’t included in the four teams that were named for the upcoming Duleep Trophy which is set to start on 5th September.

Jasprit Bumrah aiming for comeback to New Zealand series

Indian pace ace Jasprit Bumrah is slated to miss the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The 30-year-old is likely to make his comeback to the team for the home series against New Zealand where three Test matches will be played.

According to an unnamed BCCI source who said to PTI “In the case of Bumrah, he knows his body the best and it will be up to him if he wants to play in the Test series against Bangladesh”

The source also said, “The team management and selectors are very clear that India needs 120% fit Jasprit Bumrah for all the five Tests against Australia”. Jasprit Bumrah last played a Test match for India during the home series versus England in Dharamsala. The right-arm pacer was a key star in India’s title win during the T20 World Cup.

Team India is set to start their Australian series with the first Test at Perth on 22nd November. The last two times India had toured Australia they had won the series 2-1 and need a good result to be in contention for a place in the World Test Championships finals in 2025.
