The camaraderie between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul is known to the world. During Kohli's captaincy, he backed Rahul in several instances, showing their affection towards each other. Kohli and Rahul have played a lot of Cricket together and, thus, have an unbreakable bond.
During the IPL 2016 season, Rahul was playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) when Kohli was the captain and was in tremendous form. With a total team effort and Kohli's consistent knocks, RCB qualified for the Finals but failed to win it against SRH when they had a good chance to lift the trophy.
That heartbreaking match is in the memories of the fans and players on the team till date. Eight years later, KL Rahul opened up about his conversations with Kohli and said, 'We have spoken about the IPL 2016 final so many times'. Kohli had scored four centuries in one season and was in his prime form. No bowler was saved from his wrath, but winning the IPL trophy remains a dream for him."
During an interview with Star Sports, Rahul said, "Me & Virat - The last 5 to 6 years we have spoken about the IPL 2016 final so many times - One of us had played little longer and we would have won the game, that year was very very special - it would have been a fairy tale to be right at bottom & to win the title at Chinnaswamy - there wouldn't have been a better story or better ending but unfortunately that didn't happen for us."
My aim is to obviously get back into the T20 team: KL Rahul
KL Rahul has been away from the T20I team for quite a long time now. Due to injury he lost his spot and hasn't been able to make his comeback yet. He revealed that his next aim is to return to the T20I squad after the IPL 2025. That period will give him the scope to perform well and send a message to the selectors.
During a recent interview with Star Sports, Rahul revealed his desire to play for T20I and said, "My aim is to obviously get back into the T20 team."
